Mouse Pad Sizes, Thickness and Materials
The most common promotional mouse pad sizes are 7.5" x 8" and 8" x 9.5", and the standard thicknesses are 1/16" (1.6 mm) and 1/8" (3.2 mm). The right choice depends on the surface: a hard surface pad keeps a printed logo sharpest, a fabric pad feels softest, and an ultra-thin pad is the one you can mail. This guide compares every Digispec line with sizes, thicknesses, minimums and production times taken from Digispec's own product data.

Mouse pad sizes
Digispec mouse pads come in these sizes (width x length): 6" x 8", 7" x 8", 7.5" x 8", 7.25" x 8.5", 7" x 9", 7.5" x 8.5", 8" round, 8" square, 8" x 9", 8" x 9.5". Not every line has every size; the category pages list what each line offers.
What size is a standard mouse pad?
For promotional pads, 7.5" x 8" (about 19 x 20 cm) is the most common size, and 8" x 9.5" (about 20 x 24 cm) is the larger standard. Digispec also makes 6" x 8", 7" x 8", 7" x 9", 7.5" x 8.5", an 8" round and an 8" square. A larger pad costs only a little more per piece and gives the design more room, so most buyers choose by desk space and design shape rather than by price.
How thick should a mouse pad be?
1/8" (3.2 mm) is the everyday office thickness. 1/16" (1.6 mm) is lighter and costs less. 1/4" (6.3 mm) is the thick premium fabric pad. Ultra-thin pads at 0.015" to 0.02" (0.4 to 0.5 mm) are for mailers and laptop bags, where weight and thickness matter more than cushioning.
Hard surface vs fabric mouse pads
A hard surface pad, such as Digispec's Vynex Heavy Duty or DuraTec, has a textured plastic top over the printed design. The plastic protects the print and keeps fine detail and exact brand colors sharp, and it wipes clean. A fabric pad, such as Origin'L Fabric, has a soft cloth top with the design dyed into the fabric; it feels softer under the hand, can be washed, and is the only Digispec pad you can order from 25 pieces instead of 100.
Heavy Duty vs DuraTec
Buyers ask this more than any other question. Both bases carry the same Vynex top, so the look and feel under the mouse is the same. DuraTec is odorless and latex-free and made with US materials, which is why hospitals, clinics and schools usually pick it, and it costs a little less size for size. Heavy Duty is made with US and global materials.
Pads that do something extra
Calendar pads print a year at a glance (or 12, 18 or 24 months on MousePaper note pads) and the calendar can start in any month. Frame-It Flex pads have a clear window for a photo or a business card, and Frame-It Lift pads have a top that lifts up over a larger insert area. MousePaper pads are tear-off note pads made with 30% post-consumer recycled paper, with your design on every sheet.
What each line is
- Vynex Heavy Duty
- The top is Digispec's textured Vynex plastic surface, which protects the printed design underneath, on a Heavy Duty base made with US and global materials.
- Vynex DuraTec
- The top is the same textured Vynex plastic surface used on Heavy Duty pads. The DuraTec base is odorless and latex-free and made with US materials, which is why hospitals and schools often pick it.
- Origin'L Fabric
- It has a soft fabric surface, and the design is dyed into the fabric by sublimation, so it can be washed.
- Barely There
- It is an ultra-thin pad with the textured Vynex surface and an odorless, latex-free base. It is light enough to mail and thin enough to slip between a laptop screen and keyboard.
- Peel&Place
- It is an ultra-thin pad with the textured Vynex surface and a low-tack, repositionable adhesive back that holds it on the desk.
- MousePaper
- It is a tear-off pad of note paper made with 30% post-consumer recycled paper. Your design is printed on every sheet, and the user tears off the top sheet when it is full.
- Frame-It Flex Heavy Duty
- It has a clear window on top where the user slides in a photo, a business card or a custom insert, on a Heavy Duty base.
- Frame-It Flex DuraTec
- It has a clear window on top where the user slides in a photo, a business card or a custom insert. The DuraTec base is made with US materials.
- Frame-It Lift Heavy Duty
- The top surface lifts up so the user can place photos, phone lists or notes underneath, on a Heavy Duty base.
- Frame-It Lift DuraTec
- The top surface lifts up so the user can place photos, phone lists or notes underneath. The DuraTec base is odorless and latex-free.
Frequently asked questions
What is Vynex?
Vynex is Digispec's name for its textured plastic mouse pad surface. The design is printed underneath it, and the plastic protects the print. Vynex Heavy Duty, Vynex DuraTec, Barely There, Peel&Place and the Frame-It pads all use it.
What is the standard mouse pad size in centimeters?
7.5" x 8" is about 19 x 20 cm, and 8" x 9.5" is about 20 x 24 cm.
Is a thicker mouse pad better?
Not always. 1/8" is the usual office choice. Thicker 1/4" fabric pads feel more cushioned, while 1/16" pads are lighter and cost less. For mailing, an ultra-thin pad under 0.02" is the practical choice.
